You do not initiate an MEB. Speak to your unit Physician. Thank you for your service.

VA 50 % is not high. I am VA 100% Bipolar and 194% combined ie VA calculator. Most I know are VA 70% . Be very careful as they can toss you out with nothing unless you have 20 years.. My friend rated VA 90% combined 70% PTSD VA 100% IU.. just came in at 10% Army MEB. I got 0% MEB ...40% on appeal then it was cut to 20% meaning a big ZERO.. you might end up with Severance. PTSD is normally rated as Temporary and you can be cut or reduced for getting better especially if you work are young, as in under 55. Talk to a lawyer first. PS everyone now days are on meds.

Great information. I have 10 years in at currently rated 50% for PTST 0% rated for hypertension. Also on meds for both. Working as a National Gaurd recruiter I sometimes have episodes of anxiety and depression to the point it’s effecting my life and family. I have been act by my psychiatrist do I want to be med boarded. I just want to get some insight information on what can help me make a decision.

Your situation is complicated by you being an AGR. It puts you in a different box, administratively.
Do you have a deployment limiting profile, or just a VA rating?

SGT (Join to see) - That makes sense that you did not pursue a profile, then. I think maybe we should take this conversation to IM.
The DLP is what initiates a PEB/MEB process. If you did not have a PHA that generated a PULHES change and/or DLP, than you are not on the Army's radar yet. But you will want to think this through, as once it starts, the momentum carries you to places that you don't have much control over.

SGT Joseph Cabra - No, it would get the PEB/MEB process started. A non 1 in the S in your PULHES is an automatic referral.
My concerns would fall into what his desired end state is and how deep into his career he is. Sure, you can collect 50% VA Comp, but if you are giving up an AC retirement, it isn't worth it. If he is close to 15 TIS, he needs to get to that number before initiating this process.

That’s what I was also told to reach my 15year mark. What is so significant about getting to your 15year mark?1SG (Join to see)

SGT (Join to see) - It means being medically retired, and collecting retirement pay. If you rate over 50%, you can have concurrent receipt of both retirement and VA disability.
