I was diagnosed with PTSD and granted service connected disability. Can that service connection or diagnoses be downgraded at a later date?

Not if you stay connected and continue with counseling ... depends on your over all report. Some request that you come back for reevaluation. If it's marked as permanate, It will say so in that rating. if you are 100%. they want to see you trying to get better. Believe me you do want to be better. Keep working on it. all the best

I was diagnosed with PTSD service connected disability at thirty percent BS. I have now put in a claim for non service connected disability but was told that that will open me up to the possibility of being downgraded or the loss of that rating all together. I know that the service connected is related to my non service claim.

First, I am NOT an expert on this so take anything I say with a grain of salt :)

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere in the utter SEA of paperwork out there that once you hit 55 any service connected VA ratings are locked in and can never be removed.

Again, not an expert. Just something I read somewhere, at some time, at some point.
