I was discharged with a General (Under Honorable Conditions) what exactly does this mean? Can I possibly get it upgraded?

I certainly do not want to rain on your parade, but here is my own circumstance.
I received a field grade Article 15 for sleeping on 24 hour guard duty. I PCS'd 3 weeks later, and at my new duty station (within 45 days) I was diagnosed with multiple sleep disorders. I used that documentation to try to have my A15 overturned and get returned to my previous pay grade. No dice.
I was told by JAG, that to have that be a consideration, it would have had to have been diagnosed before the A15 proceedings.

In this day and age if you require a waiver (your RE code is 3 or 4; characterization of service is 'Misconduct, or patterns of misconduct' it is highly unlikey that you will get it upgraded. Google the Army Review Boards Agency. Theres a downloadable packet on their website (I think; there used to be anyway) I would start there. You can go to a recruiter, but I can guarnatee you that if you can't join today, you're not going to get any help from them. Good Luck

More important than the discharge type, is the Reentry code if you wish to go to the reserves or Guard-

I received a general discharge after 12 years of service. I requested the discharge after several back surgeries. My brother went awoke after 2 1/2 years in and received the same discharge. Now he gets veteran benefits and I do not. The va said that since I served with the California and the iowa national guard that I was not considered a veteran. I was called to active duty then a couple weeks before 180 days released. Only to have it happen again. I have 2 active duty mos's 63h and 54b along with active duty bncoc.
