SFC Private RallyPoint Member 1348202 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I need some clarification on something. While I was on ADOS orders I was promoted to E6 effective date 1 JAN 15. The promotion reassigned me to a different unit, but the transfer order didn't come until much later with effective date of 31 DEC 15 because RLAS was down. I'm trying to transfer units but they're saying they won't let me because I need to spend a year with them. I was promoted into a different unit, do I have to stay the 12 months with them before I can transfer? 2016-03-02T15:34:00-05:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 1348202 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I need some clarification on something. But you as a Soldier don't have the option, it has to be initiated by the unit.<br />But since a year has passed, is this still in question? Needs vs Wants decisions wisely made makes friends the opposite makes opponents. Please keep in mind the whole idea for cross unit promotions is to infuse new blood into the unit and to assist in your professional development. Yes you are outside of your comfort zone but that is a good thing because that is when you will learn the most. I am not saying never go back to your old unit if there is an opening, but give the new one a chance. New unit with a new promotion....what an adventure. The unit I was reassigned to is a support unit out of Ft.Jackson, which I found odd since there are MI units here on Ft.Gordon they could have reassigned me to instead which would've been much closer.
