I was recently selected (CAAS) and am not AB qualified. I need to know if I can PCS my family to Fort Bragg while I am in AB school.

I am going to AB 21 MAR and am currently stationed at Ft. Hood. My report to Bragg is 15 APR. Will I be able to get housing for my family before AB school?

UPDATE: I made it to Bragg. We are situated in housing. My AB date is coming up soon. Can't wait. Thank all of you for your responses.

Yes you should be able to PCS to Bragg. Policy on this changes over time though, the last two Soldiers we received from the school house went to Airborne school after CAQC. If you are still in touch with the CA recruiter on your post he/she should be able to give you the most updated information.
To speak to your question 1SG, Airborne school is a prerequisite for the MOS.

I was in the same situation and went ahead and PCSed to Bragg prior to airborne, didn't seem to be an issue, even though my orders were TDY enroute.

Rgr that sir. I appreciate the help. Were you able to get on-post housing? or did you find somewhere off-post? Also, do you have any recommendations for housing? I have a wife and two children.

So there is an on post family housing option, but you have to give up your entire BAH for it. I have a SFC buddy living there now, and i saw the house he is in, they are a 4 person family and have more than enough space and its nice. (the on post housing is about 30 minutes away, its kinda odd)
I got an apartment at Stone Ridge, its reasonably priced and it includes EVERYTHING besides electricity. So cable, internet, water, trash is all included, there is a pool and stuff and you can get up to a 3 bedroom place. Its gated as well. Its really close to the gate nearest JFK. I would look there and see what your BAH is and if it would be more cost effective to live there or somewhere similar vice on post.
I used apartment finder.com and you can type in additional search criteria to help you find one that you like, but I strongly recommend stone ridge. But thats just me. Don't be afraid to PM if you have additional questions regarding anything from this to airborne school, etc.
