Tug of war. Raw egg on a spoon in the mouth slalom race. Water dunk (where the leadership gets dunked if the target is hit). Raffles. FOOD FOOD FOOD. Beer (if allowed). Relay races for prizes. Sprint races for prizes. Just a few ideas. The possibilities are endless.

Another idea.........again, this is if beer is allowed.....is BEER MILE. What you do is for everyone that wants to compete: Before they start, they chug a beer. After every lap, they chug a beer. The race is a mile long.
Hence the name. It's a timed event and the clock continues to run while they chug beers. Fastest time wins

Set up an urban orienteering course. give Soldiers a map of the base, make them navigate (in buddy teams/fire teams) to various installation facilities, like ACS, Outdoor Rec, MWR, bowling alley, pool, etc. Collect a flyer from each one. Finish line is a park facility with a quiz on where to go to accomplish different things (which the flyers will answer). After they complete the quiz, they mosey over to the picnic area where the grill is already cooking with burgers/brats/steaks/whatever your budegt can handle, there are coolers full of water, soda, and Gatorade (and beer if allowed).

Works on teamwork, helps new Soldiers learn the base, helps privates learn what the Army offers them, gets some PT in, and ends with unit cohesion. If you want, you can even throw in some pickup volleyball or basketball or flag football or what not at the park.

JBLM has a paintball range that's good for a fun day. Skeet shooting and range time are fun as well. You could also do a day of boating on American lake, hike at Rainier, bowling, driving range, golfing, or a good old ceramics painting class. Follow any of those up with a platoon barbeque to finish up the day. Look on JBLM MWR for more ideas.

Water balloon fight Teams, old school games like egg on spoon race, patato sack race, tug a war, BBQ, Pot Luck, ball game, family fun day if the families are around. Ice cream Party. Jenga, Uno, Connect 4. Just brain storming but board games can be fun even as adults and people who have to be very serious and stern almost always. Hope this helped.

Don't worry about impressing you leadership. Worry about making it fun(ny). Come up with events that will make people laugh.

I recommend:
_Bull in the Ring
_Sumo Wrestling
_Basketball wearing swim fins and boxing gloves, squad vs squad
_Combat soccer (30 people per side, 11 balls on the field, everyone has a sleeping bag in a in a poncho liner to use "pillow fight" style) first side to get 6 balls in the goal (and keep them there) wins.

_Surgical tubing Catapult/slingshot water balloon fights

Your goal is to create wild, weird, funny games. If the troops are talking about the games at the club a month later, you knocked it out of the park

"Mandatory fun day". Those are not easy to pull off. 1/2 the people don't want to be there and you will have a hard time finding anything everyone wants to do.
