I was told that once you attend ALC, you are basically locked in to whatever mos you attend the school as. Is that true?

I'm stuck as an 88m at the moment but I intend to go back to 11b as soon as I cam. Ive seen the in and out calls say that you can go into certain mos' as an e6 but I feel like it's pretty rare to start a new mos as a staff sergeant.

You should be able to change, the issue will be the unit you are going to and how long have been an 88M. I would suspect that the unit would rather you go to 11B ALC than 88M since they are drastically different. I have seen E6's change MOS's in Reserve Units.

Each MOS dictates what it's requirements are to be allowed entry. 11B2 is under strength so if you plan on reclassing to it, sooner is better

Not true at all. As far as changing MOSs , it all depends on current MOS strengths. BLUF, your current MOS has to allow you to move out and the one you want to go in, has to allow you in.

Absolutely not true, I went to ALC for 25B and got pinned SSG then reclassed to 25E (which had ANOTHER ALC integrated in to the AIT)

SGT Robert Cupp, as other responses have highlighted it is possible to reclassify as an E6, pending approval and at the needs of the Army. But I would consider the knowledge gap you would have with your peers should you reclassify. If you attend 88M ALC, and reclassify to 11B, you have not had the recommended training for that skill level. You may be at a disadvantage, doctrinally, as your peers. Some people think the higher NCO grades are more administrative, however, pick up a skill level 3/4 manual for the respective MOS and take a look at the different expectations and tasks related to just most skill levels.
I am not suggesting you don't pursue what you love, if you are passionate about being an infantryman, go for it, but recognize that in order for you to exceed standards and be competitive among your peers, you may have to work harder and go out and seek knowledge you may not have to prove yourself.

I have two MOS. I went to ALC as chemical, and SLC as an Engineer. The drivers were: what does my unit need, and which school could I get into first.
