I would like to commission into the Regular Army from being National Guard enlisted. What would be my best route?

I'm currently mobilized with my unit, however when I return I would like to seek an active duty commission. I am a senior with 2 semesters of undergrad left, so if I were to do ROTC it would require a graduate degree. Active duty OCS would require a Conditional Release, unless I wait my contract out (about 7 months after I graduate college). I would appreciate any insight into either path.

I would go talk to a recruiter. I do not think ROTC is an option because back in my day the minimum contract is a two year contract. But that could be if you want the scholarship. Also, check with other services they may have better options then the Army.

Direct commission into NG in an open LT slot or use a NG scholarship for the last year. Then Google call to active duty, the active Army will likely pull you from your basic course into AD, if not just wait and use NG mobilization and look for opportunities.

Call HRC first. They should be able to direct you. Then again as Bill stated you have a recruiter right in your building.

I would talk to the ROTC people. Prior service with an MOS generally exempts your first two years, so you may be able to accelerate the rest of it and pickup Advanced Camp this summer. There are provisions for students that are ahead in military and civilian educations, which you apparently qualify on both counts, so that would be my first conversation.

Talk with recruiters for all the Services after you get back from deployment. There my be waivers available to your enlistment in order to start OCS. If you can pay for the schooling, ROTC may be the best deal. Finish your bachelors and start post-grad education. If you don't complete masters (probably won't in a year) you may be able to work on it part-time while on active duty.

Go check out your state's OCS program... takes a bit longer that Benning's OCS... but will also give you a chance to finish school. LTC Mark Martin - PANGMA OCS Class #29
