Idiocracy: Is it becoming a documentary?

For those that have not seen the movie Idiocracy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idiocracy) the basic plot is they take a text book average solider from 2005 (literally the most average person statistically they could find) and cryogenic freeze him for 500 years where he wake up to be the smartest man alive. the world is run by the media, mega corporations and advertising.

Do you think this is the path our society is heading down? Why or why not?

Oh, I can see it happening. Even people you come across in day-to-day life or on social media just drive home the point that society is devolving into a bunch of brain dead jackasses.

This is one of my favorite movies.

I would like to think of it more as a prophetic warning, than a documentary though.

It seems to be the trend,almost no one has their own point of view or opinions anymore.The statements most make are almost direct quotes of what has been seen or heard through the media.
I hear more real opinions on RP than from my own community.

While there are outliers society is definitely moving in that direction -

There appears to be a disturbing trend in American high schools. If we judge the quality of education by the scores that students get on their SATs, then it appears that things are getting worse.

Since 2006, the overall average SAT score has fallen by 20 points, dropping from 1518 to 1498 in 2012. Scores are also down in each of the three categories tested, with reading dropping 9 points, mathematics dropping 4 points, and writing falling 9 points. However if we go back further it gets worse. Another guy a psychology professor at the University of Amsterdam named Jan te Nijenhuis has calculated that we have lost a total of 14 IQ points on average since the Victorian Era. This is a world wide problem - some claim its because our brain is getting smaller.
