He disappeared and nobody heard from him for 10 years. Eventually, his remains were found along with the rifle and fixed bayonet. They claim he committed suicide. U.S. military officials took his remains to investigate.<br /><br />I do not have first hand knowledge of this. I did not know the veteran. I&#39;m friends with the family and recently heard this story. I wanted to see if this is normal protocol or not. <br /><br />Thank you, RallyPoint Members! Simply for the reason being that it could be retaliation for any classified operations the individual may have been involved with. Of course that&#39;s assuming it wasn&#39;t a sanctioned hit to begin with. I&#39;m not a conspiracy theorist, but I know when someone announces they&#39;re writing a &quot;Tell-All&quot; book... accidents happen.
