Then a couple weeks later I got a summarized article 15 with no extra duty or loss of pay, just a flag. A few months ago my flag was lifted. I was talking to some NCOs in my company and this topic got brought up. They are telling me that since my flag got lifted and I passed BLC and the board, that I should be promoted automatically. My leadership have been telling me that I have to go back to the board and pass it again to get promoted. I’m not sure if my leadership are trying to screw me over or if I really do have to go back to the board. I’ve been doing research but I haven’t seen any situations in which someone passed BLC and the board then got flagged. <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>This actually happen to a close friend of mine . He got flagged after failing his “Height &amp; Weight” even tho he passed his PT test with flying colors. He lost his promotable status due to been flagged. After retaking and passing “Height &amp; Weight” he now has to go the promotion board again to regain his promotable status.

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>When a soldier gets flagged, they generally will lose their promotable status and will have to reboard. They only get auto promoted when lifted when promoting in the more junior ranks, like E1-E4 in this case. AR 600-8-2

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Ask this question of your Chain-of-Command:<br />&quot;Was I removed from the PPRL (Permanent Promotion Recommended List) when I got that Article 15?&quot;<br />If yes, then you will need to re-board. <br />If no, you will be promoted once the flag is fully cleared (this sometimes has hiccups in the system) and your sequence number come up.
