If a soldier is a meddrop from airborne school, what are the guidelines for returning to the course if it is in their reenlistment contract?

A soldier re-enlisted for airborne school. When they attended, they got injured and were medical dropped, and informed by the cadre that they can return at a later date once they they got better. Soldier is now healed and trained up to re-attend airborne. It has been a year since they attended the school. Does the soldier still have the obligation or option to attend since it is in their contract or does the offer “expire” at some point. Do they have to have a certain amount of time left on their contract?

The schoolhouse should have given instructions on this as part of the separation package. Your best bet it to either talk to the schools /training NCO on your unit or contact the schoolhouse.

I imagine they would at least require some sort of medical clearance exam / certification to attend again

Their school NCO needs to contact the ABN School, probably need a med clearance form. If it is on the SM's contract, then they have to go to meet the requirements or be re-assigned for the good of the service/discharged.

First, the school house will have needed to annotate in ATRRS that the drop was medical and not for failing standards.
Once that is fixed, the Career Counselor will have to submit a renegotiation for another training seat. The Soldier will still incur a 3 year SRR for an airborne assignment and will attend school in a TDY enroute status to an airborne assignment afterwards.

Because the individual did not complete airborne which was part of their contract, they are no longer obligated to attend the training per their contract. The Army did its job by sending them to the school. The only way to reattend the training would be to submit a 4187 for airborne training and complete and airborne physical.

Their is also an OML for airborne and if I can recall from an earlier post, you are at Stewart so I would assume the SM is also there. Fort Stewart does not have any airborne slots unless assigned to 75th at hunter so it is unlikely the division would pay for the training that wont be used.

The best bet would be to reenlist with an airborne option.
