If a soldier is demoted and RCP has started, but they get promoted back to their previous rank, would that stop the RCP from happening?

You have to be in favorable status to be promoted so the first question will be is the Soldier flagged under the punishment phase of the ucmj or for separation? If flagged they are not going to be promoted and therefore cannot hope to beat the rcp.
Leaders will attempt to frame things in a positive light to ensure favorable conduct, but Soldiers have to be self aware enough about their situation and prepare for the most likely outcome.

Yes, if your flag is lifted and you are promoted back to your original pay grade, and you are below the RCP point in that pay grade.

I see there is more to the story, but my answer still stands.
