PFC Andrea Barringer 4173551 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Hello everyone, my husband is reclassing and in ATARS (sp) he is coded as a PCS student. He hasn&#39;t gotten his orders yet, just signed the reclasses papers a few days ago, but his school date is February. My question is since he is going as a PCS student will the kids and I be on his orders to move as well? If a soldier is on orders to PCS and attend school to reclassify, will the family members also be listed on the orders? 2018-12-01T09:39:08-05:00 PFC Andrea Barringer 4173551 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Hello everyone, my husband is reclassing and in ATARS (sp) he is coded as a PCS student. As for if it is TDY enroute or TDY and return that can depend on a lot of stuff. If so his orders will not include you and depending on how you guys have MACP set up may not have the children on there. They may stay there with you to follow later upon you PCS from current location Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 2 at 2018 11:06 PM 2018-12-02T23:06:02-05:00 2018-12-02T23:06:02-05:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 4186828 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Family members are only listed by name when they are required to be command sponsored to go overseas. All schools that are PCS length are stateside, and so family members will move with the SM. They don&#39;t always have to move with the SM, sometimes it is too disruptive to move a family for 6 months to a year and the family can opt to stay put until the SM finishes the school and moves to the next assignment. You see this a lot when people go to the Sergeant Major academy which is a year long. If it is a stateside PCS move it’ll just say Dependents: Yes. If the school is 179 days or less it’s is TDY enroute. If it is 180 days or more it is a PCS move. Majority of the time the dependents are not allowed at the TDY school because the Army will only pay for the Soldier. Accompanying your spouse to the TDY location can cause a hardship because you will have to stay at a hotel and the cost will be covered at your expense and it is not reimburseable. Also your spouse will more than likely have to stay in the barracks for the school he’s attending. So from a financial perspective it may be cost affective to remain where you are until after the school is complete. I hope this helps. Good luck.
