If afforded the opportunity to chose, what are the most important things you look for in your next duty station?

As we approach PCS season, the questions are beginning to role in with the most common one being, "Does any one have any information on (Insert Post/Duty Station name)?" From the initial requirements for the Army, i.e. the DA 5434, to once your arrive to your new location, what are the most important things you look for?

What were your struggles, and what do you regret the most about prior moves?

Now that my children are getting to the school age, I will be going to a duty station with a great surrounding educational system.

Whenever I went to a professional development school, I always asked my classmates (w/ the same military specialty) how they liked their unit, job, base, location & chain of command. Everyone had such a wide range of experiences. With kids, schools & location are definitely a top important priority.

Inexpensive things to do, drive time to the nearest city, traffic in the local area. I regret not having the someone from the unit help/drive me around while in process( they asked but I had my car). I got lost a few times when going to the company from places other than the barracks
