If elected President with Trump "Tone Down" his demeanor as POTUS?

What are your thoughts RP Members? Will he change if elected or will he be the same brash and outspoken individual that he is today?

Will he bring together one of the most promising cabinets the United States has seen or will it be business as usual with Trump?

What do you think? I'll share my opinion after the responses!

He would only if he gets the right kind of handlers around him. That would be people he trusts and are brilliant. That and the opportunity to have smart service oriented people in his Cabinet would go a long way. If we see people bailing out on a regular basis, that would tell a different story.

I would expect Donald Trump to tone down somewhat in public COL Mikel J. Burroughs. However in private I expect he is much more thoughtful in the way he talks with his inner circle of business associates. I would expect him to be forceful when dealing with the leaders of other nations. If he is elected as POTUS I expect he would be much closer to Ronal Reagan in determination as opposed to our current POTUS.

My Honest opinion, is that when any candidate runs for office, they overly exaggerate everything they do. From the showmanship to how they would handle things. Would Trump act differently if he became the POTUS?
I think the answer would be yes.. heck anyone elected into the office would act or do things differently , as they are now the ones handling the nation. Its like anyone starting a new job , you might think you know what is best , but when you are faced with reality of how things work, then you will adjust accordingly.

Separate from whether I think he'd make a good president, I think he would tone down his schtick. Right now he's playing a role based on giving the audience what they want to get high ratings, just like a TV show. But I believe once elected, and when he starts getting briefed on all the things really going on in the world, that would sober him up like it does all presidents. I think that moment when you realize the crushing responsibilities you now bear is so daunting that even he would realize that it's not a game anymore.

As to his cabinet, I think that's a great question and a great unknown. Usually the president brings many of the same people from the staff of the last president of their party into key positions. If not actually cabinet members than his circle of advisors. I don't know who Trump would go to for foreign policy advice or any other area. It's one thing to say you know smart billionaire friends, but not many actually are willing to put in the work or face all the financial restrictions and disclosures that go with government service. They are all used to running their own shows, and I wonder if they would want to work for Trump. That's actually a pretty scary consideration.

Not a chance, Read Trumps book this is how he operates, no reason to think he will change just because he has more power and authority. As far as the cabinet remarks what need does he have for a cabinet, he knows more than the military on how to deal with ISIS, his foreign policy ideas are unquestionably brilliant, and he'll make the economy shine "believe me."

No, I think he is too narcissistic and petty. He has shown that his entire life. Why would a billionaire waste the time and effort to get into petty arguments with the likes of Rosie O'Donnell. That just does not make sense to me. I have heard over and over again how President Obama is a dictator in this country, although I do not support that belief. Unfortunately, it's too much of a gamble. I do happen to privately believe that, yes, he would, but I wouldn't want to perpetuate that notion- as overestimating someone can be just as dangerous as underestimating them. Part of me wants to believe that while he was in Military School, growing up, some Military Virtues and love of country rubbed off and that he experiences a duty to run. I'd be interested to hear him speak on that more, especially in connection to education.

I think he is what he is. Other presidents have been as brash. Andrew Jackson wasn't particularly smooth. So far I haven't seen any substance behind the bluster. All the candidates say what they are going to do (ACHIEVE). But they are really short on details. Plus this I've got a pen... attitude is contrary to the Constitution. The founding fathers set the system up to grind slowly along when there was a big political divide. Our frustration with things not getting done is a sign that the founding fathers knew what they were doing. Once both sides stop giving each other the "stinkeye" and start cooperating, things will happen. Until then YAY!!! gridlock!!

I believe Trump is a successful businessman. He found a product that he could market, and the public at large is investing in it.

It is the same strategy the military uses.

The battle is the nomination, the war is the election itself. He found a chink in the armor, and he is exploiting it, taking advantage of it.

The protests do nothing but drive his numbers up because he is now being looked at as the victim.

So, will he change when he gets in office?

I believe that his approach may change, but his goals will be the same.

In my mind, the key to a successful Presidency is:

• A great staff of political, financial, foreign policy and military advisors.

• A President who is willing to take the will of the people and information from his staff, and listen to them.

From a purely logistical point of view, it would be political suicide if he altered anything about his campaign.

Will he change? If he listens to a staff who have the best interests of our Country in mind, he will.

Remember, a businessman may be deemed "ruthless", but he only does what it takes to make his business successful,

I think he is smart enough to know he doesn't know it all. I think he is smart enough to surround himself with people who do know. Yes he will tell you what he thinks and won't pull punches. He'll try but anyone who gets under his skin will prompt him to make late night source material. I think much of his success (or failure) will be based on the cabinet he surrounds himself with (and if he objectively utilizes information given). Many previous Cmdr-in-Chiefs' legacies were influenced by the quality of their administrations. He may be doomed to fail if grudges are kept (which I expect), even if he turns out to be capable.

I do not believe Trump will tone down his demeanor were he to become POTUS. Why should he? He has lived "out loud" his entire professional career, why would this be any different? He is used to being a CEO, rich, spoiled and catered to, so how would his position as PTUS be any different to him? He is used to having things his way and is not afraid to make a decision, even if it's the wrong one. He is also not afraid to be a scrapper and incur a few bruises in order to ensure he prevails. I admire those qualities, as most of us may as well. Trump is a skilled strategist and I can not bring myself to trust his motives.

I get the impression Trump has had a chip on his shoulder for a very long time, which he has used to build his fortune and success as a businessman and as we know, business can be very back stabbing and cut throat. Politics are the same way and I see Trump's persona feeding the divisiveness and polarization of congress, not working to unite congress and thus, our country as a whole. Being a strategist, he has done well in stirring the pot and directing many people's opinions by using their anger to further his motives. It is common knowledge that our governing bodies need an overhaul to pul the required heads out of the required asses, and it is going to take a tough person to accomplish this and as far as foreign affairs goes, not make anymore enemies than we already have.

This is a great question. The future is not going to be boring, that's for sure.

To my military associates:
You do not change your stripes in the middle of the hunt or the kill. Mr. Trump has always had the UPPER hand in business and welds that economic hammer to the distain of his business underlings. Often it is brutal and sometimes plainly unfeeling. When dealing with countries that have their own leaders, who also must have some ego to do their individual jobs, he will attempt to use the power of the US government to support HIS ego, as he has done so often. Even if we as citizens disagree with other governments, he can not be supportive of OUR possibilities to form alliances with them if he pursues objectives that are more HIS than OURS. If enough harmful rhetoric occurs, it will lead other countries to unite to form alliances they would not attempt if they felt they had a choice against the U.S. That is truly a concern.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs I'm not sure what he'll do. Personally, I think that he's a powder keg with an ego problem and attention whore. Who knows, maybe he'll get his act together and put together a great cabinet that'll bring this economy around (we can all hope). Many people like him because he speaks his mind. I see right through it though, he just says what people want to hear and the fact that he's filthy rich, he can get away with it. What I don't get though is how many registered republicans are voting for him, even though he has supported the Clinton Machine in the past. Personally, I like Ted Cruz. I like that he's all for small, limited government and wants to establish a lower, flat tax for both individuals and corporations.

I'm in an odd mood today. With that being said, I look at the life cycle of Trump's business ventures ; versus Clinton's history of cold, calculating pawning of her fellow human; versus the odds that a non Doc/Rep party member will be elected. Below Clinton will receive more points merely because we already know the Clinton administration. The Trump administration will differ, but the end will be generally similar. There's a few possible outcomes here:

---Trump---
*Trump's business structure life cycle is a few years, he can last one term, but heavens help us if he's elected for two consecutive terms; so whether he changes or not doesn't matter.
*Trump has an obvious talent for impressing investors with his vigor and projected confidence.
*Trump would lock down this country, squeeze any country not willing to accept his word and U.S. agenda as gospel.
*Trump will be taken advantage of by his subordinates with expensive projects, missed deadlines, inappropriate personnel structuring (he'll hire and fire incorrectly and allow others to do the same.
*Deadlines and investors will be more important than The People.
*He could be assassinated for not catering to the "poor and disenfranchised".
*He might be assassinated for simply being Clinton's competition, but I doubt it since she hasn't really tried to throw her weight at his campaign. I doubt she sees him as much more than a distracting bluster. The question is: Does she feel that she has any real competition; and if so, than whom are they?

---Clinton---
*Clinton is pure politician and will cater to the masses in order to gild the system further and ensure a second term.
*She might even attempt to orchestrate a plan to erase the term limit for The President.
*Welfare, loopholes, market bubbles and other gilded lilies will be increased to keep The People secure, provisioned, compliant, and controllably predictable.
*Military, small business, middle class, any demographic that isn't obviously children, unfortunate, or otherwise political hot pots will be sacrificed for her career and the career of her chosen successor (not necessarily her daughter, but possibly).
*World leaders and other opposing voices will be neutralized with assassins, threat of a "Terror" label, bribery, or some other effective measure.
*Illegal migrants will flock to our borders because "of course another amnesty is imminent. Whether amnesty is granted or not won't change the influx of hopefuls.

This country will move closer to distraction from inside or outside influences depending on whom we choose. The ball started rolling a while ago and now we need only ride the cart until the inevitable national change happens. What other empire in history has lasted over 200 years without some sort of major change or a full dissolution? I expect to see us weather the change, but our grand children won't recognize the country that our grandparents held such pride in. As it is, can we really relate to the U.S. of even 100 years ago? The Leader matters not when you fight for The People and your brother/sister in arms.

Trump seems to take pride in his business sense. His way obviously works to secure investors. He sees voters as investors. Why would he change what he believes works for the amount of time that he needs it to?

I personally like his temperament, although I may not agree with all he says, he's the asshole we need in office. I do think, however, that he will "tone down" his demeanor, once we see a change in how our country is ran. Many of us can honestly say we are pissed off about many decisions made during Obama's terms in office - and so is Trump. It's about time we have someone who has passion and determination to fix our country and make better decisions. It's time someone like Trump gets in office to take care of our own first, before taking care of anyone else.

Of course not, the man is stoned on his own hype. That's like asking a hyena to stop being a hyena. He JUST CAN'T DO IT! I used to equate the office of the president with poise, dignity, respect, intelligence..........those days are long gone.

Short answer.....NO..... For better or worse what you see is what you get..... not just because people rarely change their behavior.....but because he sees no reason to change the very activities that made him president
Personally I do not like his style.....but he never asked me and seems to be doing alright without my advice..... I just hope the amateur can bring all those professionals around to the right path

BTW....I find it interesting that at least three nations in the world are empowering "rogues" as their leader

Very interesting to read the below comments in today's light. Most people were right - he did not change his spots and only got 'worse', depending on how you felt about him to begin with. He is certainly the genuine article, love him or leave him.
