If given the opportunity, would you serve in the White House or in Washington, DC and have a chance at earning the Presidential Service Badge? Have you already earned that badge? If so, what was that duty like?

No thanks. The Capital holds no interest for me. I have had opportunities to work in D.C. but passed on them due to the location. Far too many people for my tastes.

I would love to. I love history therefore I would see this as an opportunity of a life time (working in the White House) and becoming a part of that history on a daily basis would be excellent.

No. I would serve in the white house because it would be an honor to do so, the badge to me is irrelevant.

I could see how it could be very rewarding and would jump at the opportunity to serve on White House duty. I don't need a medal for it.

I think the networking opportunities would be amazing.

In a heartbeat! Not just for the badge but being selected to serve and perform at that level would be a huge honor and a great accomplishment! To be able to work with/for the POTUS in those capacities I feel would cement the purpose of serving further knowing that what you are doing is directly supporting decisions at the highest level for your comrades and for the American people I couldn't think of anything better.
The down side would be the traffic and cost of living in DC but the experience would be priceless!

Nope. I am from Northern Virginia. I am enjoying my time away and will retire somewhere else. I only come up for the Army Ten Miler and to visit my parents.

If told that is where I will work, I will do my best and spend the weekends at the Smithsonian with the family.

It would totally depend on who the President was. I could not serve with a President I had no respect for.

I once turned down the opportunity to be the Executive Officer for an Army four-star because I did not respect the man. I loved my position as XO for an Army three-star and would not have minded doing it again for a four-star, but I had no respect for the man and respectfully declined the opportunity.

If I was told I had to, I would not put up a fight.
If they asked for volunteers, I would be the first to raise my hand.
And I would do my job, what ever it is with Honor, Courage, Commitment.
Politics aside, you are doing a job that is needed regardless of who is in the house as the POTUS. Get over yourself.

Most definitely yes, especially in the present White House! I love history! I would experience history unfold. It would also be just simply be very interesting to work in the White House. Receiving the Presidential Service Badge would be very nice as well (of course), but that is not the main reason why I would want to work there. Last but not least, I am for the present President! He got my vote twice!

No, regardless of who was in office. I could not put up with the amount of spit-and-polish that would require, and doubtless a lot of arrogant, high-strung people running around trying to prove how important they are. Give me down-to-Earth fellow troops in a relevant, working base any day.

Earned PSB serving HMX-1 "Marine One" from '90 - '93 under Bush Sr. and Clinton. I find it interesting how many talk politics regarding duty. Politics have nothing to do with the responsibility you are entrusted with. Either you are able to conduct yourself as a professional and perform the duties entrusted to you or your are not. If serving the current CIC is a problem, get out because you are already serving the current CIC.

Frankly, working with the White House is so hectic there is little time to "think" about the politics. I was proud of my service and regard my PSB as a crowning achievement. I would encourage anyone who has the opportunity, to see what it is like to work in high profile day in and day out. It is tiresome to be maintain "image" all the time.

Still I have many Great and Awesome stories from my time there, which can be gleaned for the small price of a beverage.
