If I choose to change my reenlistment PCS assignment, will I go needs of the Army or will I have some choice?

I reenlisted for Fort Wainwright with a report date of 20 DEC 2021. Since signing my contract my wife got pregnant and we also have a 2 yr old. The EFMP office here is taking a long time to process us due to COVID so I still don't have my orders. My wife has expressed concern about trying to PCS while pregnant and being so far away from family. I know it is possible to change my assignment however my question is if we choose to do so will I go needs of the Army or will I have some choice?

You can put in a deferment to push your report date. Or you can request a deletion. A deletion request is hit or miss. Deferment is usually not as much of an issue. And to my knowledge, you would be assigned needs of the Army. Unless you know your career manager personally.

You can't change it you can only delete it. You can also defer it if you need more time because of EFMP.. If you cancel it you'll have to work with your branch manager on getting a different assignment.
