If I completed SGTs course and CPLs course while in the Marine Corps, will I have to attend BLC and ALC in the Army as a Sgt to pick up?

I knew a staff sergeant who came to the Army Reserve as a specialist e-4 but he had his basic non commissioned officer leadership course and he made E5 in a few months. The Army does not discriminate against your Marine schools, it's the Marines who discriminate against the army. I knew a platoon Sergeant, E7 who was a master gunner in armor in the California guard. He was working at China Lake as a civilian and was going to get transferred to the East Coast. He was offered an E-1 or E2 position in the Marine Corps Reserve do the exact same job on Abrams tanks. So be grateful the Army is not like the USMC.

I would say make sure you have some sort of proof, I had a gentleman who claim to have the equivalent of PLDC but could not prove it, so we made him take the course.

You should receive credit provided you have all of the documentation to validate. On the other hand it is a great opportunity to become acclimated with the Army. There will be NCOs from literally every unit on the base exposing you to the full spectrum of Army culture. If I were your 1SG or CSM I would encourage you to attend. Thank you for your service.

I'm in the process of convincing the people at Ft Carson that this is a thing, what you want is AR 600-8-19 paragraph 7-24. Take that and your course graduation certificates to the S1 and they should put them on your ERB, if not, go to BDE S1, then G1 etc... until it's done.

Yes, you still have to go to BLC and ALC. It happened to me.

CPL course is not BLC equivalent.

SGT's course is BLC equivalent.

Neither get you credit for ALC.

I believe you should still attend and see if you may have missed any area from the Corps to the Army. Theymay show you a thing or two and you may impress them with some Marine things as well. You will only come out better than you came in. Not only that , it will impress your future commander and show them that you can handle any situation.

Funny. My friend as both coming from the marines and they still made him go to blc. Said it didnt carry over... he got hard slotted to go to BLC.

Unfortunately he failed the course at week 2 ..
