If you go back into the same MOS and there is a need in that MOS for a Prior Service E5. In many cases prior service Soldiers re-enlist in new MOSs seeking a bonus or just looking for a change. In those cases you may have to drop a rank to be eligible to return to the line but quickly after training and reporting to your unit you are promoted back up. You’re local recruiter can explain all the different options and provide you with the best info to make the right decision moving forward.
