They will decide either retain or discharge; based on the medical condition.

That was a quick and dirty answer. There is more to that based on your specifics, which you ought not to post here. I got a P2 Permanent Profile while at OCS in 2010. This led to me receiving a Medical Drop from OCS, but I stayed Active Duty until 2018, when I transferred to the Reserve.

If you receive a P3, that WILL trigger a Medical Review Board that will look at your profile, determine whether you can continue to do your MOS, and if not, what MOS you CAN do. If there is no MOS that you can do with your profile, you will be medically chaptered or retired. A P3 or P4 will initiate a Med Board....and then possibly medical discharge. So this will depend on the profile and the Med Board. A P2 won't get you med boarded. You will eventually need to appear before an MOS Medical Retention Board who will assess your ability to do your job with your profile. If you are determined to be mission capable you can stay in. I had a P3 for my legs and was returned to duty with a special PT test and a no-running profile. What I'm saying is it all depends on how you present yourself to the board and your willingness to do what is in the best interest of the service.
