If I have been selected for a commission, and the scroll has been approved and returned, can I get a conditional release?

Esteemed officers, respected SNCOs, fellow NCOs, and junior Marines, soldiers, sailors, and airmen, I bid you a warm greeting.
I recently was informed that I was board selected for commissioning and my "scroll" was approved and returned (appointment with rank confirmed). I'm now waiting on my unit to release me. I have 10 months left on my reserve contract. Has anyone gone through this or heard of anyone not released even with appointment letter? I have heard that special forces and commissioning ventures are approved generally but I thought I should ask this community if they've heard otherwise.
Thank you in advance for any insight.

Good afternoon sir. Yes, I applied and was selected for the Army Medical Specialist Corps. I have aspirations to continue with PhD studies along with research ventures. I'm currently in USMC reserves but I'm trying to find out if my unit will release me.
