I have 20/20 vision in my left eye, but 20/50 in my right eye, I haven't been issued glasses yet however I'm certain that I will, I had intended on having my vision corrected to begin with, my question is of course, if my vision in my right eye is corrected to 20/20, can I do away with the glasses that the army issues me? Also, should I bring some sort of retention device for the glasses, or will the army provide one of some sort? Just so they don't fall off of my face or cause any problems while shooting.

First off, if you don't need glasses then why would you have to keep glasses? If your eyesight is 20/20 or better in each eye than of course you can get rid of your glasses. Next, if you are reporting to basic and require glasses, you will be issued glasses that will have the ability to have a strap attached to them.
Wait until you get to your unit. The Marine Corps paid for my LASIK in both eyes and I now have 20/15 in each eye. I'm not sure if the Army has a similar program.
