You do have to be able to serve 20 years before you are 60, which includes you prior service time. Be aware that you have to have 10 years commissioned to retire as an officer if you are prior service. So if you had 12 years prior service and did 8 years commissioned, you would retire for pay at your highest enlisted rank.

Youll be ok. the military subtracts your age from your years of service, if you are truly trying to re-enlist.
