If I just went through MEPS and did the physical, why do I have to do a PHA if I was good enough to get in the military?

I just re-enlisted in the national guard after 7 years and I got orders to MOB & deploy in two weeks but my command say I have to do a PHA before i go.So they say I won’t be going to the MOB station & a Major from my command said the next PHA is not til MAY 19 & I won’t be able to get on active orders til JUNE 22.if I was good enough to get back into the military should I be good enough to deploy?

The PHA is the key process for assessment and maintenance of the currency of IMR using DD Form 3024. The PHA is used to:
Identify duty limiting and deployment limiting conditions, fulfill the required annual mental health assessment, monitor and guide military personnel in the area of preventive health screening and education
screen for currency of occupational medical examinations and other health assessments.

Soldiers are required to assess their physical and behavioral health before and after deployment. Deployment health assessments are taken in three phases throughout the deployment cycle. Each assessment consists of resilience training, an electronic questionnaire, and an interview with a health care professional.

The PHA is a military requirement for pre and post deployment and has nothing to do with MEPs physicals which are entry exams.

In The Navy resilience training was not required for any of my four deployement. Maybe different in the Army.

PHA is a yearly assessment. It is a mandatory check the box requirement your command has to do to deploy you. It has nothing to do with your MEPs medical exam.

MEPS is "Military ENTRANCE Processing Station" whereas PHA is "Periodic HEALTH Assessment". These two have absolutely nothing to do with the other. You passed MEPS to come back into the military, good for you. Now you have to have an annual PHA from AMEDD per regulatory guidance and requirement.

For over 10 years, I was the NCOIC of OC/T teams and deployed frequently to various MOB sites throughout the USA and PR. While there, I performed duties as a mentor to the senior leadership of the deploying units, Unit Mobilization Assistor (ensuring all requirements to MOB are completed by everyone in the unit), instructor, trainer, etc.The procedures I encountered during those years (2003-2013) are below.

The Physical Health Assessment and a follow up physical is required prior to or at a MOB station. The military does not want mobilized Soldiers who have conditions that prevent them from deployment. A Soldier who MOBed and remains on active duty beyond (I think 30 days) and is found to be non-deployable after that time are generally kept for rear station or sent to a Warrior platoon until a DR certifies that the medical issue has been taken care of. If a non-deployable condition is found prior to that, the Soldier will either not be MOBed or will be released from active duty prior to the 30 day mark.

PHA or SRP2?
Reenlistment process can cover the medical portion in regards to SRP1 but SEP2 you have a whole slew of other things to do.

It’s annoying.

Just do it so you can mob and be cleared.

But just FYI you can get back into the army with certain health conditions that actually might not be blessed off on come medical waivers. So. Yup.

So your SRP2.

When I served in the Air Force I had to get physically and mentally cleared before any mission. Everyday you have different challenges and they just want to make sure you are ready at that moment to be on your toes and ready for any challenge.

If you’ve really been in 7 years I can’t understand why YOU can’t understand Big Green making you do something like this. The military thrives on this shit. I was in ANG and worked as a civilian for the army and had to do Cyber Awareness at each job less than two weeks apart. It’s a milder, everyday version of SNAFU; Situation Normal, Doesn’t Make Sense.
