Will I be getting the full rate of BAH even though me and her are not married ? If I’m a Reservist on active orders and supporting my child, as well as the mother (not married), will I be getting full BAH or Partial? 2019-01-08T05:43:10-05:00 SPC Onel Cruz 4268231

I am the sole provider of the child and mother(girlfriend) but she has power of attorney over my daughter in any case I leave on active orders, she has no means of income to keep up with rent and bills on her own. If so then you can get BAH for supporting your kid but they do have to be in DEERS and you'll need documentation showing paternity and that you've been paying support. Regarding the mother though, you can't get BAH for paying your girlfriends bills (or an Ex, baby momma, drunken hook-up, juicy girl, exotic dancer, Old college buddy, etc).

If this is something where you're just being a good guy and taking care of your kid and the mom without ever needing to go through court, then sadly - you're going to have a difficult journey ahead. Do you pay child support through a court order?

Also you should probably go talk to someone in JAG about it or read the regulation.

Children count as dependents too - you don't have to be married to the other parent to count them as a dependent. And it's not just spouses who are dependents. Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 8 at 2019 2:56 PM 2019-01-08T14:56:03-05:00 2019-01-08T14:56:03-05:00 2019-01-08T05:43:10-05:00
