There was a Career Counselor Sergeant Major who would write reenlistment contracts, but was also a commissioned officer in the reserves, so he would then reenlist them. It was called dual-hatting. It&#39;s not allowed anymore. The closest you will see is state technicians who have one rank at work but then another at drill.
