If I'm PCSing to Korea with only only 1 yr left, is there a way to bring my family without re-enlisting or extending?

I will be PCSing to korea in October. I am married and will have 2 children then. I only have 1 year and about 2 months left in by the time I arrive there. Because a sponsored tour has to be 2 years, will I not be able to bring my family with me unless I re-enlist or extend or is there another way I can bring them?

Also if I can't bring her will I have to live in the barracks and will I still make BAH so my family has somewhere to live?

You can bring them without sponsorship.

You have a choice hear. You could go in for the long game extend a few month or re-enlist and keep going or go by yourself.

What I would do is ask your gaining unit command team or contact your sponsor to talk to the command team about your plan. Soldiers get into trouble bringing their family over without asking permission in prior. You do not need a command sponsorship in order to bring your family overseas but it needs your gaining unit commander's approval so that they can support your decision when you inprocess with them.
