If I put in a DA 4187 to switch my secondary MOS to become my primary MOS, would this possibly trigger a reassignment? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/if-i-put-in-a-da-4187-to-switch-my-secondary-mos-to-become-my-primary-mos-would-this-possibly-trigger-a-reassignment

From my last question, I have been informed I am cleared to continue my service, very exciting news. I recently discovered that it may be difficult to Re-Enlist as a 25B because it depends on if the school house has open seats. But I do hold 92F as my primary and 25U as my secondary. I was told that I could obtain a DA 4187 and switch my secondary as my primary. Lets say I did this, and now am a 25U, I assume this would trigger a reassignment to a unit within BN that has a slot, but would this possibly trigger a reassignment at the post level, causing PCS orders as a 25U? So, if you change MOS you will change the potential places that you might be sent. It is possible, but not guaranteed. All reclasses are processed through your Career Counselor, there is no such thing as just switching to your secondary MOS. Also, that is not how the orders process works.

If you are interested in going into your old MOS, you will need to contact the 25U MOS proponent and receive a validation that you are still qualified in your MOS. Then your Career Counselor can submit for a no-training reclass. The strengths of the MOS are the ultimate driving factor. 25U and 92F are both under strength, it's very possible your request would be denied

If your request is approved, then you are now a 25U in your BDE and it's up to your BDE to move you as they see fit. If there are no authorizations for your MOS at your BDE or your post within your MACOM, you would contact your branch manager for a new assignment.
