PFC Private RallyPoint Member 5754020

Hello all,
I was stationed in Germany a little over a year ago as my first duty assignment. I received a $21,000 bonus for enlistment and my MOS. Since I have been in my unit, I have not worked in my mos one time. I have spent nearly my entire time in the Orderly Room. Since I received a bonus, do I have to work in my particular mos since that is what I signed up to do, or does it not matter? Are there any recommendations on how to get transferred to another unit so that I can work in my mos? If I recieved a bonus, do I have to work on in that MOS? 2020-04-08T16:05:29-04:00 PFC Private RallyPoint Member 5754020

Hello all,
I was stationed in Germany a little over a year ago as my first duty assignment. Though I can't say absolutely, the Army is the one responsible for you working outside your MOS. PFC Private RallyPoint Member Response by CPL Dave Hoover made Apr 8 at 2020 4:10 PM 2020-04-08T16:10:47-04:00 2020-04-08T16:10:47-04:00 SGT Eric Davis 5754041

You getting paid right? It happens to everyone, getting stuck in someone else's position. Mostly it is because we are horrible at slotting people. Company armorers are supposed to be the 92Y, but 99% of the time it's some 11B. Units gripe about numbers but don't follow their own MTOE in slotting personnel. Dude is getting chaptered? Slot him as "known losses" rather than sitting at an Infantryman's slot. When I was a company commander I had Soldiers with very technical skills that they wanted to use but unfortunately our mission was to pull tower guard. Finish all of your online and school training so you can get promoted and move out of that duty station or unit. Remember that you signed the dotted line that says I agree to do what I’m ordered to do and to pay any price up to my life in service of my country.
Best of luck. Look at your unit and devise 2 or 3 options how you could both support the needs of the company and work more in your MOS. Keywords like "maintaining readiness" will help when you pitch it. Sell your first line on it initially, and then inquire how he or she wants to continue upwards. If you hit a dead end, you can utilize the open door policy and present your ideas to your 1SG or CO. Leaders love a go-getter and a problem-solver. And, do your best in your current duties. If we are not faithful in the small things, we are not likely to be given more. Your unit has a slot for a Skill Level 1 94E that you are assigned to and fill. There is no MOS for orderly room, but the spot still needs to be filled by someone capable. It's a good learning experience, you learn a lot about the Army and how to fix problems in an orderly room - and once you become a leader, most of your job is fixing other people's problems.
