With the reenlistment bonus you are signing a contract agreeing to serve in that MOS, at that rank, for a period of time. For isntance, someone signed a bonus for one MOS and before fulfilling that obligation they reclassed. They had to return/repay the Army that money. If I were you I’d hold on to that bonus if you receive it. I always counsel my soldiers who are applying the commission to re-enlist for the maximum bonus before applying. Once you are approved for a commissioning program you are not eligible for a bonus when you reenlist. I was told the opposite by our retention NCO and shot myself in the foot by signing away two separate bonuses. I later found out by our CW4 that I was told incorrect information and should of taken the bonus.
