If I reenlist under a SRB bonus (for 6 years) do I have to pay it back if I apply for Green to Gold, Active Duty Option?

I have looked into the DFAS regulation on SRB payments and repayments and it is unspecific on weather or not commissioning falls in that category. It also states on a memorandum within the G2G packet that an SRB will be paid back on the date you leave your current duty station.

Even though AR 601-280, Chapter 5, paragraph 5-13c states:
Recoupment of an unearned bonus is not required if the Soldier is separated to permit acceptance of a commission or warrant appointment or to enter a program leading to a commission or warrant appointment. Entitlement to additional unpaid bonus is suspended and will terminate upon commissioning or appointment.

No, you absolutely will not. I always counsel my soldiers who are planning to commission to take the largest bonus. Once you're accepted to the commissioning program, you're no longer eligible for that SRB, even if you still need to reenlist.

I appreciate the guidance and input from you all, I am going to reenlist for the maximum time allowed and see what happens a few years down the road when (if) I do apply to G2G.

I believe the two SSGs have stated it appropriately. The Army wants Sokdiers like you who have the will and desire to become commissioned to do so. Having that variety in the Officer Corp is good for the Army, why would they penalize you for doing so. Good luck on your decision and thank you for your service.
