You can't reenlist to join 75th. It's simply not an authorized option. You have to request to attend RASP, reenlist Opt 1 needs of the Army, pass selection and the you'll receive orders to your BN.

SGT (Join to see) o that's not a thing. I'm a Career Counselor and that simply isn't an option. Also, Airborne is locked in after they compete RASP these days.

SGT (Join to see) Airborne Soldiers will still get recruited from Airborne school, but now RASP is set up to send Soldiers to Airborne after they graduate RASP.

To address the question about the bonus-- you reenlist to attend RASP and upon graduation of RASP and Airborne school you get the bonus. It is critical that the 75th puts you into ATRRS for airborne school prior to reenlisting. They will tell you that they don't schedule Airborne till you are successful with RASP, but you have to get them to schedule you or you don't qualify for the 75th location bonus.

Honestly, I would re-enlisted for another incentive (maybe another school you want, the degree completion program if you can swing it, or maybe another location), then, I would put in to volunteer for RASP. You will not lose anything re-enlistment-wise for “furthering your career.” But, doing it this way maximizes the incentives you could get.

Analyze all your options. The infantry is a good place, but you will have a lot of catching up to do as an NCO going in, not to say you should do it, just make sure to set appropriate expectations for yourself.

If you want more “hooah” in your life, go infantry.

Also, SFAS accepts applications from all MOSs. That being said, you may want to try that out if your wanting more of a challenge. A good majority of those guys were NOT infantry prior to earning their beret. This might be a good shorterm option for you in the sense that you can at least go to selection to see if you have what it takes. If you make it, great! If not, reclass infantry. Something like that....
