If I switch from Active Duty to Reservist will I maintain the ability to give my children my GI bill? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/if-i-switch-from-active-duty-to-reservist-will-i-maintain-the-ability-to-give-my-children-my-gi-bill <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am an active duty service member with 9 years in. I am open to the idea of finishing my Army career in the reserves while working a civilian position. The main issue keeping me from doing this is that I was told that I would not be able to transfer my GI Bill to my dependent if I left active duty service. Recently I heard information to the contrary so I thought I would come here and ask. Keep in mind that you will incur a 4 year obligation post transfer of the benefits, so transferring sooner is better than waiting. You would be able to either conduct a reenlistment, or an extension, to ensure you have enough service time and able to make the GI Bill transfer happen.
