Yes, you can "buy back" the time. Doesn't count towards LEO'S retirement time, but does for annual leave garnering, i.e. 4 hrs, 6 hrs...and may count toward you GS steps.

You can "buy back" your active duty time and it will add one percent for each year to your retirement should you reach retirement with the BOP or any other federal agency.

It will, my father did 20 years in the service and another 20 at the USPS. I don't see how it would be any different for the FBP.

There is a way to buy into a program adding your years of service to your Federal number. I have found that it is sometimes beneficial and others not. Once you are hired you will have plenty of time to determine which is best.

It can but it's not automatic. You have to navigate the bureaucracy and buy back your time. That only adds some money to the FERS part of your retirement which is smaller than the TSP part.
