If it is getting late in the year, should I just wait until the first of the year to bug my recruiter about ASVAB/MEPS/Flight Physical Dates?

If they are working it is never a bad time to ask questions. Make sure you set realistic goals for yourself to complete the application process and stay committed. Best of luck.

Already have talked to a recruiter and visited the office and filled out the paperwork. I was told that he would let me know about the dates when he knew. But the next board date is 5 January.

Things often slow down around the holidays due to people going on leave, minimal manning, etc. You need to keep in mind we work on a fiscal calendar for everything else. When boards and such meet are going to be outside of your recruiter's control. What you can do is talk to your recruiter about taking an ASVAB. Typically if you score very high, recruiters will want to help you get in a bit harder. When I joined, I took my test and they really wanted to put me in, but I was taking my time to make sure it was the right move for me, so I did the MEPS portion separately, before committing to any contracts. They even worked hard to push a waiver through so I could enter sooner, though due to a paperwork snafu I was delayed a couple of weeks.
Not very much is likely to get done during these few weeks, so keep in touch with your recruiter with a phone call once a week or so would be my suggestion at this point.

I think technically fiscal year starts October 1st (jobs listing n stuff) but the whole process might take a couple weeks before u actually choose ur MOS
