Probably half of the AGRs deployed and half stayed back with the Rear D. I&#39;m not sure how they decided who who went and who stayed, but I went even though I had only been home a little over a year from my previous deployment. Unless you&#39;re selected for Rear-D or have a very special circumstance then I would assume you&#39;re going if you&#39;re a part of that unit...welcome to life. Back in 2007 our battalion deployed and took all but one of my AGR&#39;s with them, leaving me and the OPS SGT to handle a unit of 140 soldiers. The only way I see you not deploying is if they set up a Rear Detachment and wanted a full timer to head it.
