I deployed a few times in the past with National Guard and now that I'm AGR with Reserves , I have a feeling that my current unit that I am part of , might be getting called up soon.

If for some chance you don't want to go, plenty other AGR's who will low crawl through broken glass to get the chance to deploy.

I'm one of them. Feel free to switch out.

...please.

Honestly not too familiar with the AGR, but pretty sure it is not a pick and choose your deployments based on whether or not you want to go. Unless you're selected for Rear-D or have a very special circumstance then I would assume you're going if you're a part of that unit...welcome to life.

Unless your commander/ Supervisor want to name you to the Rear Detachment Team in all real terms you're probably gonna deploy again! That's just how it works with the units rotational. Y le under the Reserves 5 year training plan preparing for deployment.

LTC John Mohor - Thank you. I'm going to have to look into it again. There are all kinds of AGR spots in my MOS and if that doesn't impact my deployability I'll grab one.

SSG (Join to see) - Actually there was a period when if you were AGR and had not deployed, they were going to ensure you deployed. I think that has slacked off now.

At the risk of getting all ranty and *bleep*, I've never understood how folks managed to duck deployments and still get promoted. Now deployments are getting rare its understandable.

It turned into a true art form how folks could transfer reserve units just before they'd have been locked in for a deployment. Ones that were mobilized but not sent overseas or at least not a hazardous duty area fate was just there. I was chatting with a Battle Buddy once when we both agreed our one time was enough until everyone in the Army had a former wartime service "Combat" patch!
