If one was going Guard is it possible to switch to active duty?

Was asked this question by one of my classmates wasn’t sure of the answer. He’s currently talking to a National guard recruiter, Did all the paperwork, got his waiver approved, also already took the ASVAB was scheduled to go to meps next week for physical etc and wants to know if he can switch to active duty. Would he need to do all the paperwork over again as well as get the waiver approved again?

If he has signed his contract, he was a member of the Guard from that moment. If he hasn't signed, he can join who he pleases. Yes, he will have to redo his paperwork with an Active Duty recruiter.
