I would tell him to go back. I lost a few brothers looking for that dirt bag and we turned over 5 high ranking POS for one that wanted to leave in the first place.

I don't think I would ask him anything until he owns up to/admits to whatever it was that led to his capture and the deaths of 6 men. He should have to explain himself. I say don't verify him, until he is tried.

I'm withholding all judgment until the investigation ensues. I do know one thing - these chickenhawk congressman who are calling for his execution without him even getting a shot to tell his side of the story can go fuck right off. Proves to you that congress doesn't care about us. That could be any one of us. We're just a talking point to those elected pieces of crap.

All of you pretty funny. I would ask him when he is going to catch up on all of the stuff he missed. EO, SHARP, SSD-1, 2 and 3 and CLS to get recertified. I would also ask him when he plans on doing a PT test and weapons qualification so he can be current. Then again he might just pop smoke the night before he is supposed to start anything. Also have him go through and redo SERE 100 he might be able to learn something which I doubt.

I have Idea what the young soldier did or didn't do, but my intuition tells me he walked of that base. Give him the chance to talk then act accordingly. One thing I would like to say is that he has been held captive for five years by a group up not so friendly guys. He will never be the same mentally again, then consider the mental capacity of a man that walks off post with no weapon in a hostile area of people that would love to have your life. Is this young man of sound mind and and capable of competent decision making?

Keep in mind that he has requested on numerous occasions already to not be called Sergeant, he fills he did not earn that title and I could assume he does not fill he deserves the respect and authority.

Should we welcome home this soldier as if he were a prisoner of war? Yes because he was by definition. Should he get a hero's' treatment? I see no acts of heroism or bravery that would justify said treatment. Should he be held accountable for violations of the UCMJ? Yes if found to have been mentally fit at the time he was making the decisions, while when deciding on his corrective action the judge keeps in mind he has been held captive and abused for five years as a result of his decisions.

I would offer him immunity and a one-way ticket out of the USA for telling the truth about all....especially any coaching he has received by this administration to avoid the truth of the matter, and an ill-conceived attempt to make him less of a traitor then he is, solely for political capital.

By the way....he has NOT earned the title of SGT....it's slick sleeve Bergdahl to me.

I would ask if new the names of the people died looking for him and how many people killed (or will be killed) by the terrorists released in exchanged for him. Also, the total cost to the American taxpayer for the years of search and the subsequent trial for his actions.

I know our system says Innocent till proven Guilty, however in this case I'm guilty of believing just the opposite and his innocense has to be proven to me. Till then, I wouldn't have a damn thing to say to him in public...plus I would be pissed if he had access to a computer while locked up and awaitting his court martial.

We had a guy just like Bergdahl at Alasad, PVT Smith, he went AWOL, left his CHU went and spent the night on top of a hill, came back the next day like nothing had happened, like no one was looking for hiim. Boy did he get smoked, ART15'd and dent home for a dishonorable.

I am first and foremost an investigator, a seeker of facts. Therefore, I would ask him to fill out the "View Questionnaire" and then drill the hell out of him. For those of you who do not know what the "View Questionnaire" is, please look it up on line. We have used it for years now and it's a great Investigative Tool to get at the truth of what actually happened in all kinds of situations and circumstances. My personal opinion is that this questionnaire is much more reliable then any polygraph going. By the way, the US Army has been using it for years.
