<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>There should be a guiding policy by Base or Command that should state what is allowed/disallowed in this instance. I can't speak for the Army but in the Marine Corps you are expected to lock your closet/wall locker during the day. Standard inspections are just looking for general cleanliness and compliance. The major "Health and Comfort" inspections that go through all spaces to include wall lockers and the like require higher approval and that's when you would see MP's and dog handlers coming through. Bottom line is that squeaky wheels get attention. Do your dishes and just go above and beyond for your last two weeks. You need to be under the radar and not give anyone an excuse to be in your business.SSgt Christophe MurphyTue, 14 Nov 2023 08:34:47 -05002023-11-14T08:34:47-05:00Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 14 at 2023 8:51 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Heres my take on this. The SPC doesnt want to clean his closet. His roomate says he is "nasty". I wonder, is your closet full of dirty clothing. A closet with dirty socks, underwear and PT clothes will easily leave the room stinking to high heaven. Closing the door will not contain the stench. Be very glad I am not your 1SG. You would open that clost, I would post your FLL in your room to watch as you cleaned it top to bottom. In fact, your behavior would initiate a weekly inspection of all living spaces for everyone in the Company. Then I would let the Joes provide you with motivation to keep your area clean. <br />Of course that was all possible before the military became a summer camp for people who cant even look in the pants to determine there gender.1SG Alan BoggsThu, 30 Nov 2023 12:43:32 -05002023-11-30T12:43:32-05:00Response by SGT Joseph Dutton made Dec 19 at 2023 10:51 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Inspection is what it is, a Inspection. If you have a Locker of any sort that is secured, they cannot force you to open it. They can only inspect common areas that is not secured by a device. If the inspector/s warrant further inspections. Then the inspector/s must secure the area and call the MP's. If the MP's warrant further investigation, then they must get a search warrant and must be specific to what is being search for. <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You might not think so right now, but in 20 years you will wish you had left the military on good terms, not like this. Is creating this dust-up simply over dirty dishes at this point really worth it? If I were you I would do the best job I possibly could for the rest of my time in the U.S. Army and be 100% squared-away from now until then. Your honor, integrity, and reputation are worth far more going forward than butting heads with someone today just to make an insignificant point. Nobody will side with you on this anyway. <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Until December 01, you are still on Active Duty, in the military and living in a dorm. Life suck as a junior enlisted in a dorm, every enlisted member went through it before you and most learned how to better themselves. Until your on your own living, just suck it up and do what is right by not being a slob for a roommate to endure until then. As for opening a locked closet door, in a government facility mind you, you need to ask JAG and/or your command staff and not cry to facebook about how unhappy you are. Until then act like a grown man and do what is required of you until you go back to mamas basement, not making a miserable living condition for your roommate that is staying there.MSgt Steven WilkenThu, 29 Aug 2024 13:43:55 -04002024-08-29T13:43:55-04:00Response by SFC Clark Adams made Sep 11 at 2024 10:06 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It is probably best you do actually ETS out of the Army. The deeper problem with this whole situation is the fact that you're too lazy to clean your room like thousands of soldiers do on a daily basis and want to find regulation that can get your leadership hemmed up and favors your inability to be a disciplined Soldier. <br /><br />Unfortunately, this is the reality in today's military where leaders spend a majority of time on paperwork and regulation to accommodate a few Soldiers. <br /><br />My recommendation is utilize the open door policy and explain to your csm how your leadership is doing daily barracks checks and you are tired of it and too lazy to clean your stuff so you lock it in your closet...just tell the truth. And I'd also recommend taking more leave to get out of your leaderships hair sooner. <br /><br />It'll take another war for people to stop caring about fine print when we are sending $500,000 checks out to families. But at least you knew your barracks rights...1SG Private RallyPoint MemberWed, 30 Oct 2024 05:27:31 -04002024-10-30T05:27:31-04:00Response by SGT Craig Johnston made Nov 4 at 2024 6:53 AM
