If us early 80's vets can't donate blood due to the Mad Cow crossover potential, how does that affect our DMV organ donor status?

I was told I can not donate organs or give blood.

Everything I can find states that there is a different risk/reward calculation for organ donation in comparison to the risk/reward for blood donation, coupled with the issue that recipients could/will die without the organ, and that organs can be donated but not tissue. Can't find anything more specific.
