I don't see how the VA would deny anybody unless they committed a felony while they were in the military and were discharged for that. Please read on.

https://www.benefits.va.gov/persona/veteran-incarcerated.asp

Veterans can sometimes run into issues with law enforcement and the criminal justice system resulting in incarceration. It is important justice-involved Veterans are familiar with VA benefits including what VA benefits they may still eligible to receive, what happens to the VA benefits they are already receiving if they become incarcerated, and what programs are available to assist them with reintegrating back into the community once released from incarceration.

Incarcerated Veterans - Veterans

Information about VA benefits for caregivers and family members of United States military Veterans

SSgt Jim Gilmore Tue, 14 May 2019 05:28:06 -0400 2019-05-14T05:28:06-04:00 Response by SrA Steven Slimak made May 14 at 2019 9:30 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/if-you-are-receiving-100-service-connected-disability-compensation-and-you-re-convicted-of-a-felony-will-you-lose-any-of-your-benefits?n=4634290&urlhash=4634290

No. You will continue to receive your benefits but at a lower rate (20% of what you earn) if you are incarcerated for over 60 days. Once released you will return to the full amount awarded. I believe that while incarcerated it is possible to send the remaining 80% to a spouse. But no you will not loose your monetary benefits. Health care and other benefits will stop until released. Once released you can work with a counselor to obtain employment or education if so desired.
