If you did, where did you earn your Schützenschnur? Good memory?

I've been stationed here in Germany the past 4 years and figure that's a common place to get it (for the record I qualified in Gold out near Fulda Gap and Checkpoint A) but I have run into people that have been not so logical places to find a Bundeswehr officer to conduct it.

Where have you found yourself to qualify for it and how was your time there? Did you get to interact with the Bundeswehr (German Army) or was there only the token officer to make it official?

I got mine with a German unit. They were all super cool and it was a great time. I shot gold, only missing one target in the whole event. The only negative part is the superstars in s1 still haven't processed it, even though it was back in early April.

We did it with our German sister unit back in the late 70's (1979 I think). We went to the Rommel Kaserne in Neu Ulm, home of the 284th Panzer Bn and qualified with the Uzi, P1 pistol, and the MG3 machinegun. Later, we had them visit us at Panzer Kaserne in Boeblingen and they shot our weapons. Not all of them liked the 1911 !
