Slim to none.<br />You may squeak by with OTH or General but for Gov jobs they are generally looking for Honorable Discharges across the board. The main reason being that gov jobs require a background check and any criminal charges civilian or otherwise will flag you.Response by SSgt Christophe Murphy made Feb 20 at 2021 1:33 AM2021-02-20T01:33:13-05:002021-02-20T01:33:13-05:00MSgt Don VandeBogert6761930<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Can you apply? Yes. Will you get hired? Not with a BCD or a DD. Remember, they do background checks. You lose a lot of rights. You can't even legally own a firearm if you are dishonorable discharged. Its a federal law. I can't really recall anyone getting a dishonorable discharge. There was one Soldier that I knew that was pending one but he was waiting to go to trial. It would be hard to make a living with one.Response by CPT Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 20 at 2021 9:46 PM2021-02-20T21:46:59-05:002021-02-20T21:46:59-05:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member6764078<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I hope so.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 20 at 2021 11:36 PM2021-02-20T23:36:37-05:002021-02-20T23:36:37-05:00MSgt Steven Holt, NRP, CCEMT-P6766846<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Considering a Dishonorable is treated the same as a felony conviction (which it is) on the civilian side, a DD will stop you from ANY job requiring a clean criminal record. A BCD Or General LTA discharge is a major detriment to finding good paying jobs. If I found this type of information about an applicant, their file always went into the “no thanks” pile.
