Loyal.
But then again, I don't have to care about a job anymore. I liked loyal because it gave the employer more to work with regardless of skill level. Loyal people tend to stay on task and keep an eye out for the health of the organization. Dedication doesn't come up to the same level as loyal. An absence of loyalty is likely the hardest thing to fix because so many things that beget it are intangible.

Teachable, it demonstrates that u am not limited by my military experience but that I can adapt during my transition period and a new job. While it could lead to the connotation that I require someone to teach me to learn with a decent follow up it shows the capability and dedication to continued learning, both formal and informal

Resilient

: able to become strong, healthy, or successful again after something bad happens

: able to return to an original shape after being pulled, stretched, pressed, bent, etc.

Every word used on here has been great, and this word may not be popular to most because they may feel it does not provide any tangible characteristics for an employer.

However, when talking about a leader, if that leader has no resilience, then he will eventually lose his ability to lead.

If you have a driven person, and they are not resilient, they can easily lose their drive.

Teachable people without resilience may become sour after failure and quit trying.

A person with resilience, however, will look at a set back as an opportunity to excel, and a failure as a second opportunity to succeed.

All of the words provided, however, are great, but give me to words to provide and resilient will be the first every time.

Persistent:
- I don't know it, but I am persistent therefore I will learning it. Just as I learn Italian as a 3rd language.
- When I do it wrong, I stay at work until I do it properly.
- I went through a medical board. I was persistent. 27 month later I got to stay in the Army.
- It is hard to do Graduate school, work full time, family, volunteer work and so on. But I am persistent. I graduated this month.
- I can't run because my back is broken. I can walk and swim. When I swim 3 miles (100 laps) I do it one at a time because I am persistent.
So many great STAR stories to tie with this one word. Always a pleasure to share and inspire.

I think this answer would depend on the type of job it is AND the type of questions that they have asked during the interview... If they are focused on your reliability - they've had issues in that area - SO "reliable". If they are looking for someone that is a creative thinker, then maybe "creative". You can always tell by the job description, the conversation in the interview and NO this would not be the first question they ask. I've be part of the interview process many times. SO - - - my answer would be it depends because I have many qualities and if I want to position bad enough I will try and tell them what they want to hear!

Unique. Not in a one in a million candidate unique. Unique like I will wear a kilt to work and crawl under a desk unique... Sleep in fear. Sleep in fear.

I work in IT. IT people are supposed to be wyrd compared to your regular cubicle jockeys. We have to deal with everything from real issues to "Did you turn it on?" issues. A sense of humor is a requirement and a survival skill. It is almost like the off color humor experienced in the military.

"Grizzled". Retired, ancient Cav pilot.
(I realize that this response isn't in the spirit of Col Burroughs question but couldn't let it pass.). As a former COO I appreciate the question and personally would look for responses that showed determination, self confidence, and team work. During my time "loyalty" would have been important also, but with today's mobile workforce...maybe not so much. To me knowledge & determined were most important.

A former boss of mine said I was "Intensely Meticulous"...the USAF screwed me up good, didn't they? LOL!

As a Fire Alarm inspector, my job is to insure people are notified if the worst happens, so I would go with the one word description of thorough, you can't do an inspection halfway, you are the guy they're gonna come gunning for if God forbid the building burns down and the system didn't work properly!

I'm on a disability from police and fire. I was lucky wounded warrior project needed veterans or I'd still be unemployed. One word I'd have to pick would be "anything"! I'm not afraid to do anything or work any hours!
