If you have a Family Member going into Service, does it matter which Branch they join?

It makes all the difference in the world. I have been working with the Army, Coast Guard and attached with the navy. I stayed at Air Force bases and trained and Marine Corp bases. They are as different as Doctors and Lawyers. When you go to college you have a year or two of core courses and after that you have to take major and minor course work. With the military there is only basic training after you join so see what its like by seeing recruiters in all areas and after you have thought about what really interests you proceed to qualifications.

I didn't mean it in the way I think your understanding it LT Michael Scott - . I simply meant that not everyone is made for the army and not everyone is made for the Marines but we all have the same goal in mind and that is fighting for our freedom and our country.
Having been a recruiter sometimes people would come in and they would not be army material however they would fit best in Air Force or even possibly the Navy. I wasn't out to fill my quota with people that might not make it in the army and get a bad experience if they didn't belong in the army I would refer them to another branch.
Most everybody in my family tree were either Marie and or ARMY but my brother was navy. That doesn't mean I think he was in a lasso soldier or a hero for his service. He just wasn't our memory material Ha ha ha

True we fight together and to be the best at something means you must love your work enough that you want ti be better at your job than any other in the world, that is what will make us champions over corruption.

That is my point. Sometimes a child won't choose the same Branch because either they are trying to distance themselves from them or because the Branch did their parent wrong in some way, either real or imagined. In that case The Parent should still be Proud of their Child for standing up for what they believe is right, even if they are disappointed or don't agree.

If my child followed my footsteps into the military, I wouldn't want her to choose the same branches I did. I would want her to be different, do bigger and better things, and accomplish more then I ever could.

My son followed me in the service but choice the Navy. When I asked him about it he told me he had been in the AF almost his entire life. He spend his 20 and went to work for the AF.

I was the first family member to choose to serve outside the Navy. The biggest issue I had was convincing my Mom that I did not want to become an Electrician
