What do you mean by "more progress is wanted"? Are you referring to treatment, identifying those with PTSD or something else?

Personally, I did feel stuck when it came to treatment but that was because I did not want to go and be labeled. It was only after talking with another Veteran after one really bad night of drinking that I finally said screw and got treatment. Since then, I been trying to pay it forward by showing not only Veterans but the general public that people with PTSD are not to be feared. We are able to work and live in the world, we just need some hand ups from time to time. The thing I do now to help in progressing is to help other victims like myself. Therapy for me is a double edged sword, due to how long it took for me to finally get help. I truly believe the sooner you get help, the better.

I created a campaign as a way to help others, and in doing so to help myself. Not the place to have such a deep seeded desire to man hate! I ended up leavjng the group in a fit (not rage) of anger. This witch then went on to tell several people OUTSIDE my treatment group of my diagnosis and history as well told a friend of mine an officer on duty to watch for me to return she thought i could bring in a gun etc; WTF! Do I feel stuck at times? Yes I do. I really do. I have my battles to talk to, and folks on here who I know won't judge, but let me get it out for a sec or two. But progress? I believe when I hit the "mark" that tells me what happened...happened and there was nothing I could do to stop or change it, progression would be made. And I'll sleep knowing I did my job and I was a success at it. No hard feelings, and I'll see you when St. Pete's ready for me. I have a few good years before that meeting happens.
I would like to see more done for the AD/Guard/RC/vets who suffer in silence, suffer openly, and who want help but due to unit OPTEMPO, and a desire to be part of the team keep quiet. I do not think enough is done for them, and those are the ones I'd like to see get the help moreso than me. I'd like to see the services stop chaptering folks out on this being a decision that wasn't made by the troop caused this to happen. We owe it to them to go the full monty in helping them, and not discarding them when it's convenient in the name of keeping the branch intact and operational. No troop should be discharged on a condition like that. If it hasn't been mitigated or brought down to where the troop can manage, we owe it to them to keep them in uniform and properly cared for. But I know budget wise, this will not happen. DEPRESSION-I think about all that I love that graces my life and actually say it out loud. Love is the light that guides you. I love my wife, kids, dogs, country, football team etc.

2. ANXIETY and STRESS-I imagine I am at a pistol range. Targets (stressors) pop up. I focus on the closest targets, the others are too far or unnecessary targets. This process reduces anxiety. I also use the DEPRESSION technique.

3. RACING THOUGHTS- I listen to music or work out. I also use the DEPRESSION technique.

4. FEELING NUMB- I believe numbing is a protective layer around you. Sometimes it requires a short journey to consciousness like opening your eyes to the beauty and love that exists. I also use the DEPRESSION technique. MAJ Ken Landgren Thu, 18 Feb 2016 13:25:08 -0500 2016-02-18T13:25:08-05:00 2016-02-17T11:14:57-05:00
