If I were leave the military today I would probably be setup pretty well. I would more than likely end up with a company as a Cyber Security Specialist. I think I would definitely be OK if the military were to show me the door honorably today.

Fortunately my filed has direct translation to the civilian world (with simple title changes). If I were to do a direct swap, I'd be a Director of Hospital Education, which would bring a paycheck comparable to what I'm making now.

Right now I'm a 3D054 (Computer Programmer, ugh) desk jockey in the Air Force. In San Antonio the average salary is around $65,000. But, to be honest, I hate my job and plan on cross-training as soon as possible.

Right now I'm a combat documentation/production specialist teaching the photography half at the schoolhouse. I'm planning on being a photographer when I get out anyway, though I'd be focusing on equines and not military. Unless Caisson wants a dedicated photographer, haha. Teaching/mentoring and writing books or creating classes for the field are a possibility once I'm firmly established.

My starting income would probably be around $20,000 depending on where my family is located when the last of us gets out (my husband and I are both military). Once I have dedicated clients, I plan on working my way up to $50,000 going in my pocket after taxes and other business-related expenses.

I am in the same boat as LTC Paul Labrador. Nursing supervisor while working on a post master's nurse practitioner certificate in psych/mental health. Comparable or just a slight better than military pay, without the BAH, of course!

Im a 12B so I really don't have any direct skills that translate into the civilian world, but I have a BS in Business Administration and a Master's in Emergency Management with several other credentials. When I retire I want to work in the emergency management field. Salary can range from $70K on up depending what agency/state/city you work for.

I did get out and along with an IT certification I make 60k annually. im a former 25B. I switched to cyber security specialist from the networking focus I had when I was in. after I looked at the average salaries compared between the two it wasn't a difficult choice.

I've been out 2 yrs. My MOS was 91d (Gen mechanic ). I work in a shop for an oilfield company and make 42,000ish.

I retired a year ago as E8/MSG. I was a 68W (Medical Specialist). I could be an EMT for about $35k a year, Equal Employment Specialist (EEO) starting $70K+ a year, or Healthcare Administrator/Specialist/Supervisor for $50K/$60k/$70K a year. I'm doing none of that.

As it happens I am applying for Hazardous Materials/Environmental Health Technician for a University here in Portland. As a CBRN soldier, this would be a great entry level position that is advertised at $51-83K.

I retired in 1996 - was network engineer with then current certs (Banyan, Netware CNE, MSCE and Cisco) - went in to high 70s, went rapidly above 6 figures. Recently hired someone in the 80k range as a start, with minimal certs but good experience.

Well, my AFSC is Weather but most places that I am aware of don't hire Weather folk without degrees so I would say given my military training and security forces augmentee training either security or law enforcement would be where I would end up. Suits me as that's what I want to do anyway. As for how much I would make, I would say low 30K range just from my knowledge of what law enforcement in ND makes depending on the jurisdiction. Security on the other hand would be far less, low to mid 20K range probably.

Well, I'm in the Guard so this question doesn't apply. I chose an MOS completely different than what I do in my civilian career. That said, the Army COOL site is a great resource for seeing what kind of credentials you can get with your MOS which can then be used with obtaining civilian employment.

31A - Military Police. I would have to guess (hope) I'd be a rookie Deputy Sheriff or Police Officer, looking between $37-42,000 from the research I've done and LEOs I've talked to.

25S-1C Satellite Systems Network Coordinator/Controller

Because I have a degree and related IT certifications through CISCO and COMPTia, the jobs I qualify for range from 60-130k. I would be working in the IT field, probably as an Information Assurance Analyst or Manager. Who you know still matters, though.

AOC 61H (family medicine ) Currently working urgent care. Couldn't afford to go active. Military pays about 1/4-1/3 of private practice salary. Taking care of great soldiers makes up for the money lost.

Used the reserves to get my BSN and active duty to get grad degree in anesthesia, 66F CRNA. Average salary on the outside usually above $150K but much more in the city I'm currently stationed at.
