If your friend is in basic at the same time as you, and you are the same MOS, could you be in the same unit?

Are you talking about on Active Duty or Reserve/National Guard; I’m the Reserve/National Guard it’s easy to be in the same unit but active duty that’s hard but being on the same base is what’s most important!

It is a possibility. You guys can also look into going into the buddy program. That is if it still exists. There used to be a program where you and your friend could pal around and go through all of your training together. Ask your recruiter about it.

Anything is possible, just remember the military is a big family. You could start in the same unit and go to two different units the moment you get to the fleet. It all depends on who needs the bodies more.

When I was in MOS school, we got the choice East Coast/West Coast/Overseas and we were disbursed accordingly to which unit needed the bodies. I've only seen 2 guys I went to MOS school with. All 3 of us got sent to different units on the same base.

So don't get hung up on whether or not you guys will be able to stick together. The military will put you where they need you. If you're really friends, you'll find the time to talk to each other... even if it's just through facebook.

Its all up to luck. Some basic training classes have lots of folks go to the same unit, if that's the case not only will you go to the same unit but you'll probably deploy together. I didn't go to basic with a friend but I met one of my good buddies in basic. We were put in the same squad in basic and stayed squad mates for all four years of our AD contracts. Not very likely but it can happen.

It is possible. Depending on needs and assignments. I was at sand hill and most of us ended up at Ft Hood in the same company.

Short answer. It depends on your Time and place. Long answer if you and he ship to the same place at the same time good chance you will at least be in the same company but 1/4 chance you will be in the same platoon. If you even leave a day apart you will be in different companies if you leave a week apart you will be in different battalions

Dude, after looking at all the other questions you’ve asked to guys that have been in or are in. You sound like a guy that plays way to much Battlefield or COD. Why does it matter what cammo the Army wears or what units are deployed right now and what they do or are similar to. You can find all of this out on the internet without asking us and sounding like an idiot, also why would you want to be in the same unit as your friend from high school, it sounds like you’ve planned on being super secret 007 navy seal sniper paratroopers out of the 101st. because what will happen is one of you will fall behind and end up hating the other for being the reason why your platoon is now getting fucked with.

If you entered in the buddy program you can be. Once in basic you are stuck where you are. Unless you request to be transfer.

It is a good possibility but don't count on it. The Army is small enough to run into each other at some point in your career.
